Just then we heard it: a lion\u2019s powerful roar echoing across the plains, calling out for the mate he hadn\u2019t seen in weeks. We had spotted this male earlier on our journey, but now his distant calls carried over the landscape, filled with longing for his companion.\r\n\r\nWe quickly finished our sundowner and set off immediately to search for her.\r\n\r\nFollowing the tracks in the sand and careful not to disturb the surroundings, we eventually found the female resting nearby.
